The Big Move

A year ago, we made the big move. We packed up the house, climbed in our cars and made the trek eastward to our new home in Vermont. After 23 years in Ohio, I had a great job, dear friends and a lovely home, but it was time for a change.

Over the years, I had often mused about returning to New England once the kids hit college. Until my eldest child started at UVM, I hadn't had many opportunities to visit Vermont since we moved to Ohio in 1996. Whenever I went to see her, I had the sense that I could breathe again - clean, deep, beautiful breaths. I yearned for the sense of peace and serenity I felt when I was there.  This, paired with the unfortunate early passing of some friends and acquaintances, motivated me to stop thinking about the future and to live in the present. Life is short and there is no time for could have, would have and should haves. I was ready to go.

Lucky for me, my beau Bridge, agreed to join me on this adventure. Having grown up on the edge of Cuyahoga National Park, he has a passion for the woods and wilderness (and the power tools to manage them).

We have not looked back yet.
